Summer Program - Fun on the Farm

Fun on the Farm

Come enjoy all the excitement at Medway Community Farm this summer.  Help us take care of the chickens, harvest and wash produce, build compost piles, walk the nature trail, learn about the many different herbs and their uses, plant and care for flowers and vegetables and play lots of fun games!!  We have a newly completed Farm Community Center on the farm where we can take shelter from inclement weather or take a break from the hot sun.

Our staff are excited to share their love of fresh food and nature with our program participants!  They are trained in first aid and CPR and have had a CORI background check.

***Please note that our summer programs are slightly different from what was printed in the summer preview of Medway Continuing Education.  We will not run themed weeks, instead each week will include activties relating to healthy eating, art, nature and farming***

Farmer In Training

This is an advanced farm education program for older children interested in learning the ins and outs of running a small vegetable farm.  Participants will work alongside our farm team, lead by an experienced intern, to learn about the specific jobs and skills needed to produce crops from seed to harvest.  Additional benefits: participants will learn the value of working as a team, communication skills, responsibility and dedication to a task.  This is a great opportunity for students who have enjoyed farm programs in the past and would like to take their involvement and understanding to the next level.

Participation is limited to 4 per session to ensure each child receives the appropriate amount of attention and guidance.  We are excited to work with this young group of farm enthusiasts!

Ages: Entering Grades 5-8

Weeks available: July 15th-19th, July 22nd-July 26th
